Christmas in Arizona

This break has consisted of a TON of food, a TON of Jonas time and a TON of wright family bonding, also known as arguing. I have eaten so much in the past week, and it is only going to get worse. I was the first one home, which is fine for a few days, but gets boring quickly. I was glad to see the other arrive. For christmas this year I received an external hard drive. That was my big gift and then I got a bunch of little things, like an itunes gift card, my favorite book (Ella Enchanted), a coloring book, a necklace from hawaii (from Megan, of course), and a really cute folder that I can use as a portfolio.

Also, I cut my hair. Essentially the length is the same, but I cut blunt bangs! Morgan convinced me to do it and I think I am pleased. I need more time to get used to it, but I think it is a good change. Oh, and I am sick. My head kind of feels like it is going to explode, so that's fun... I am just glad I am getting it out before I go back to school. I am hoping for perfect health this semester, which starts in only a week! I feel like vacation just started! I am not ready to go back. Baby grand piano, I will miss you when I go back to Utah.

NEWJOBNEWJOBNEWJOB

Yes folks, it is true, I got a new job! I know everyone thought I would never leave the bindery but it has finally happened. I now work for the Office of Information Technology on campus. Yes this is where Mitchell works, and maybe that contributed A LOT to me getting hired. But we don't have to talk about that. Basically I do tech support stuff and I am slowly learning what I need to do. There are about 4 girls that work there, but typically I only work with one and then a bunch of nerdy computer guys. It is pretty fantastic.

Reasons OIT is better than the bindery:
1. Better pay
2. More centrally located on campus
3. It is SO quite down there, unlike at the bindery
4. I have to swipe my ID card at every door to get in, super secret and it makes me feel important
5. No boys that like me! So I don't have to deal with the awkward "I don't like you" convo
6. No boys that I like! Although tomorrow is only my 3rd day so that could change. But I don't think that is likely....
7. Hours that work GREAT with my schedule and are conducive to me putting in a full 20
8. My brother works there! Makes for a fun and interesting time

Looks like this is a win-win-win situation for everyone!
Without fail, every time I walk to my new job or leave my new job, I run into someone that I worked with at the bindery. And I always feel like awkward, like I am cheating on the or something. Not sure why that is happening but I vote it stops.

4 days until some more of this:

Fabulous things

I am making a movie for one of my classes. Because I have the best major ever. It is going very well and it is going to be super fab and hilarious. Except I am acting in it and that makes me nervous. we are shooting my parts on saturday and I am not looking forward to it at all.
Also, my normally 3 hour long class that starts at 8 a.m. on thursdays is only going to be ONE hour long and is not starting until 9:50. Yes, life is grand.
Oh and no worries but CONNER COMES HOME TOMORROW! I hope I get to talk to him sooooon. like now.
I got the BEST package from my mom this week. It had all sorts of halloween goodies, including fishnet stockings and tons of vitamins and medicine. My mom is the best. ever. I also got to spend an hour on the phone with her today which was most excellent!
I have this crazy desire to get a nice camera and really start developing my photography skills. hopefully i can borrow the schools ones and get some good practice in so I can be a pro WHEN i get my nice fancy camera. Here are some pictures I took a few weekends ago. See the potential?

P.S. the pictures look about 5 billion times better when they are not on the internet. The color is brighter and the image is sharper. Sorry! I promise they are high res!

I'm frustrated

at the amount of school work there is in my life
at people leaving me for jerusalem next semester
at growing up
at responsibility
at bipolar utah weather

i just want to go back to arizona and not deal with real life.

I'll be just fine here

Here's the skinny:
1. I know I had previously talked about going on a mission with some of you. Well folks, I am not going on a mission, at least not right now. Maybe in the future but apparently that is not in my plans for now.
2. School is hard, but life goes on.
3. 2 weeks from tomorrow is the second Mae concert of the year :)
4. 1 week from saturday is the Ingrid Michaelson concert
5. 22 days until CONNER COMES HOME! Yes folks, this is happening!
6. G.C. was AMAZING. I was fortunate enough to go to the morning session on saturday with Morgan, Katie and Sarah. I love those girls and it was such a great experience. I also got to spend some time with my parents in Salt Lake and I loved that as well.
7. I got the new Mark Mabry book, which is FANTASTICLY AMAZING. The pictures that man takes. I hope one day he will take my wedding pictures. That would be LEGIT.
8. I got said book for FREE because my dad's AWESOME cousin, Best-Selling Author Jason Wright, gave it to me. One of these days I will read one of his books...
9. I do not approve of the cold weather coming. I demand one more month of summer, please and thank you.

I'd rather be beta testing Google Wave

Well folks, the time has come once again. Yup, it has started getting cold. This year Utah decided to skip straight from summer to cold fall in ONE day. Yesterday the high was in the 80's. Today? 49. I am starting to remember why I dislike winters here.

In my design class I am designing a poster with this adorable picture of my grandpa. It is going to be SO GOOD.

Yesterday was a weird/big day for me, mostly concerning the opposite gender. It was good it happened, it had to, but it was full of sad realizations. I hate changes, especially big ones. But sometimes they must happen, and this one was for the best.

The 'rents are here and this pleases me greatly. I love when I get to see them!

Check out the band Fun. They rock my socks, and if you like The Format, specifically Dog Problems, you will LOVE Fun.

crap

Question: How am I going to be a teacher when the thought of teaching my 276 class how projectors works makes me super nervous?

wish me luck.

Wishlist

I am becoming a technology nerd. I subscribe to websites about new gadgets. I find myself excited to read these articles. I find myself wanting some of the things in said articles. I am excited to teach my communication in media class about printing tomorrow. And a little bit nervous. Okay, maybe a lot bit. But I feel that I am learning to embrace and even love the nerdy side of myself. I sure hope you are ready for me!

i want one of these. preferably in red. thanks.

I've got my life in a suitcase, I'm ready to run run run away

Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada. Those are all of the states I visited last week. It all started when I found out that one of my FAVORITE bands ever, Copeland, was touring. However, they were not going to be visiting Utah. So what did we do? We found the closest place they were going to be and made plans to drive to Denver for the concert. Problem 1: I was supposed to be driving to Arizona with my mom the same day as the concert. I think that is really the only problem that was encountered. I just wanted it to sound like this trip was more dramatic than it really was. I decided to go to the concert and buy a plane ticket to fly from Denver to Phoenix for the day after the concert. So on wednesday morning Dave, Ron, Dayna and I drove to Denver, Colorado. We went to the concert, missed one of the opening bands we really wanted to see and enjoyed Copeland's set. Some of our other friends also drove up form Provo a little later than us and we met up with them at the concert. It was a lot of fun and definitely worth the trip to Denver. While we were there I got a Sherwood set list signed by the lead singer of Sherwood, and got Aaron Marsh, the lead singer of Copeland to give me a water bottle. It was pretty tight. We spent the night just outside of Denver and when we woke up the next morning I got on aa plane for Arizona. Friday I left for Nevada with my mom and my sister. We drove to Ely spent the night there, got our eyes checked, went to a singles branch activity, then drove to Logandale, NV to visit my grandparents. The next morning we woke up, went to church then left and came back to Arizona. It was a long weekend, but lots of fun. I drove most of the way to Ely and my favorite thing my mom said to me was that we don't play dodge the bunnies. We just keep going and hit them. I was a little freaked out, especially since there were about 4 rabbits that decided to run out in front of the car. I really didn't want to hit them. I also didn't want to hit any deer and luckily they stayed off to the side of the road instead of in the middle of the road. I have also met my nephew and he is ADORABLE! I pretty much love him. A lot. Now I am just chillin' in Az, enjoying my break from work and trying to not be bored. My sister flew to Hawaii on wednesday. She is starting school there on monday and I am more than just a little jealous. She also got a new computer right before she left which I am also envying. I am missing my Provo friends but loving being with my family and being in the Arizona sunshine. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure. enjoy!

Dayna was getting antsy in traffic so se decided to sit upside down in her seat...

Arches, Blanding, and everywhere in between

For the fourth of July this year I went with some friends to southern Utah. We camped just outside of Moab, hiked in Arches National Park, and partied it up small town style in Blanding, Utah. This was probably one of the best camping trips I have EVER been on. Really that isn't saying much seeing as how i don't go camping that often... But anyway. I didn't really have to deal with bugs and everyone that I went with was very chill. We didn't get sick of each other after spending 3 days together. I feel like that is kind of a big deal. But here are some pictures from my awesome weekend! Maybe I stole some of these pictures from Ron. It's hard to say.

Exploring our campsite

We girls love us some dandelions!

Ryan, Ron, Dayna, Leesa, and Sam at the cabin we stayed at just outside of Blanding

Maybe Dayna had a cape in her trunk and maybe I am a creep and wore it. It's fine.

Delicate Arch!

All of us in our sunday best! Aren't we so cute? (Picture courtesy of my dad's iphone.)

Things relating to woodshop. YEAH!

1. I always have at least one new scratch and/or injury. I acquired 3 today.
2. I secretly LOVE working with wood.
3. Being in this class has made me more independent. This may not seem to be the case since Anna and I are basically attached at the hip. But I was realizing today that I was just going and working on things, and I actually kind of know my way around the woodshop! YAY!
4. I can find a guy to flirt with ANYWHERE in ANY situation in my life. It is terrible, but I love it.
5. I can find a guy to have a secret crush on ANYWHERE and in ANY situation in life.
6. I can do hard things
7. I can do anything I want and be at least kind of good at it.
8. Woodshop is not just for men

Why I hate illegal aliens....

So I decided to take a day off from life today, meaning I didn't go to class. Probably not the best idea, but necessary every once in awhile. So after I slept in and watched a couple of episode of Lost (yes i have started watching that, and no, I don't want to talk about it) I decided that my house is kind of disgusting. It needed some major attention. So I rolled up my pajama pants and busted out the cleaning supplies. And the only room that got cleaned was the bathroom. But that is a dang clean bathroom. But you might be wondering what this has to do with illegal aliens. I am getting there. In the middle of my cleaning spree I got a phone call from my mom asking me for my social security number. Long story short there is an illegal alien in California that is trying to use my social security number to get a drivers license. WHAT THE HELL. Go back to Mexico and leave me alone! Let's just say I was ticked. So now I have to call this guy that is investigating the situation and answer questions proving that I don't know this "Miguel" character. fantastic. So that folks, is why I am not a fan of illegal aliens. Okay, maybe that's not the only reason, but that is a discussion for another day.

New Beginnings

So I have decided to venture into the blogging world by myself. As many of you may know I have a blog with my roommate Sarah, but I though that I should start one of my own. So here it is! I am very excited about this new adventure and hope you all are too!!!
